This is a biped walking robot supported with a boom so that the robot movement was constrained on 2 dimensional sagittal plane. The prototype was developed by Prof. Christopher Atkeson's Lab (Dr. Garth Zeglin, in charge of development), The Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, and improved by Dr. Gen Endo, Tokyo Institute of Technology.
